HRTV offers quality teachings and activities during lunch, occasionally pulling students out of their regular scheduled courses. HRTV is considered a course of its own, therefore Students receive additional credits at the end of the year for their hard work in the program. This inspirational activity is an optional benefit for students enrolled in Heritage Regional High School.
The Secondary 4 IBO students performed several plays on stage. The theme was media, which indluded movies, television shows and much more. A variety of different plays were performed.
In 2008, the plays were presented again during the IBO open fair to give parents, students and others who had missed the original performances to see them.
The HRHS Environmental Club belongs to Roots and Shoots, a program offered by the Jane Goodall Institute. The club has been active for many years, although not only at HRHS. The club was started by Mrs. Coleen Carter when she was working at RVR High School. When she came to teach at the new Heritage Regional High School (it had been renamed from MacDonald Cartier Memorial High School), the Environmental Club followed along.
In the last few years, they have raised several hundred dollars for various charities, adopted a whale, owl and chimpanzee and a polar bear, collected over 2000 old prescription eyeglasses and over 200 pounds of plastic and aluminum tabs for recycling!
They take on all sorts of projects, although mainly ones concerning care for the environment, care for animals and also community service.
Recently, Heritage has been awarded with the Earth School status by the Green Schools Program and was the first school to receive it in the province of Quebec.
